On May 31, 2021, Professor Su Chunyi from Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science of Concordia University in Canada gave a webinar for the faculty and students at the College of Communications Engineering (CCE) Jilin University. The webinar was conducted via both online and offline methods, and presided over by Professor Zhou Miaolei. More than 50 CCE faculty members, doctors and postgraduates attended the webinar.
In his report titled “Lectures on Modeling and Control of Hysteresis Nonlinearities in Smart Actuators”, Professor Su introduced the current challenges posed by the hysteresis nonlinearities in new smart actuators, mainly including control system oscillation, reduction of control accuracy, and even system instabilities. Starting from the current modeling methods of hysteresis nonlinearities, he also analyzed the future research directions of hysteresis modeling. Finally, he pointed out the new challenges faced by the control of hysteretic nonlinear systems.
After the report, Professor Su had active academic discussions with faculty and students present, and answered their questions in detail. The webinar enhanced the understanding of our faculty and students on the modeling and control of new smart materials, which benefited us a lot.
